Chevrolet Corvette C8: the new generation, passing from the classic configuration with front engine and rear-wheel drive to the new mechanical scheme with central engine and rear-wheel drive, will enjoy new shapes and unprecedented proportions.
The curiosity around the new Chevrolet Corvette C8 increases more and more: after the numerous spy photos and footage of the forklifts used in the tests, the debut in the world of high performance cars of the new generation of the stars and stripes supercar is getting closer. However, the American brand has not yet officially pronounced in this regard, not communicating the date of presentation of the new model.
It has been said several times that the new Corvette, seen traditionally the symbol of American sportiness par excellence, would have been unveiled in one of the classic American car saloons: this being the case, at best the new C8 could be officially presented at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show 2019 (13-28 January) or perhaps on the occasion of the New York Motor Show (19-28 April).
Chevrolet Corvette C8 will enjoy a style influenced by the new proportions
Waiting for the presentation, beyond the classic sightings of some forklifts still disguised during the test tests, the new Corvette C8 renderings are multiplied on the web: among many, a place of merit certainly deserves a work by Charles Cronley, a user of the Corvette Forum who launched an idea of how the future Corvette C8 could be.
The rendering is the graphic result of a study developed by Cronley himself who, in order to give life to his graphic reconstruction, meticulously observed the images and videos that until today have immortalized on the road the pre-owned forklifts of the new Corvette C8. Therefore, no space to the imagination, but only the attempt to faithfully reconstruct the stylistic features of the new Corvette C8 observed through previous photos and spy videos.
In doing so, Cronley gave life to a personal interpretation of the new C8, while trying to remain as faithful as possible to what was actually seen on the prototypes.
The shapes of the Corvette C8 are a consequence of the new mechanical scheme
The new Chevrolet Corvette C8 will be a sport that somehow will deny its tradition as it will be the first generation in 65 years of history to enjoy a centrally mounted engine (to be sure in 1964 Chevrolet gave birth to a prototype of Corvette characterized by the presence of a centrally mounted engine).
Precisely because of the unprecedented technical setting that always requires rear-wheel drive but the engine mounted behind the cockpit, the new Corvette C8 will be characterized by the proportions of the new mechanical scheme: in this sense the future Corvette C8 will have a pretty short nose , a cabin in an advanced position and a longer tail than previous generations.
In the same way, the presence of the engine (or of the propellers) in a central position has required the Chevrolet engineers to design specific lateral air intakes to allow good cooling of the same. Also worthy of note is the presence in the renderings of unprecedented air vents integrated into the sides of the rear window, the latter solution required to expel hot air from the engine compartment. At the rear, finally, the presence of a voluminous air extractor imposed the displacement of the exhausts from the center towards the outside.
After years of waiting, including spy photos, rumors and teasers, the Chevrolet removed the veils from the first Corvette with a central engine , the C8 . The new architecture has led the American sports car to clearly break away from the past, both in terms of the proportions of the bodywork, and for the style, totally revised to bring the American supercar into a new era. For the moment the Corvette has formalized data and information on what should be the entry-level variant of the sports car, the Stingray which, with its 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine , will be positioned at the base of the offer with prices that, in the United States, should start below $ 60,000 (€ 53,309). Behind the passenger compartment there is a 6.2 liter LT2 V8 derived from the previous LT1 . Mounted longitudinally and combined with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive , the only naturally aspirated eight-cylinder in this categ
Almost a year has passed since the official presentation of the latest generation Chevrolet Corvette , the C8 . Now, however, it seems that its extreme variant, the Z06 , is already in the process of running in the test phase to land on the market as soon as possible. As you can see from the spy images taken by the guys from Motor1 , two specimens of Z06 have been caught and each of them shows its large exhausts in a central position. The first model of Corvette Z06 is the one with a rigid roof, while the second is in a convertible version. It is not easy to understand it, given the really heavy camouflage, but by observing the roof lines of the second prototype well, you can see the solutions to the continuity of the lines. The most important change however concerns the exhaust system, which immediately catches the eye. The rumors about the next generation Z06 were going to reject the setup with outlets at the corners, and apparently proved to be true, even if the test vehicles hav
The Corvette ZR1 proves to be strong even on the straight with its supercharged V8 755 hp, shooting from 0 to 96 km / h in just 2.85 seconds. In the sports market the Chevrolet Corvette has always been an icon and the ZR1 variant represents the most powerful version of the american supercar. With 755 hp released from the s upercharged 6.2 V8 , in fact, she managed to get behind the fast Ford GT on the Virginia International Raceway. But that's not all, because Corvette Blogger has recently discovered its acceleration data thanks to statements from the model Product Manager, Harlan Charles . Well, the time on 0-60 mph (0-96 km / h) is around 2.85 seconds. The shot from zero up to 100 mph (160 km / h) takes place in 6 seconds, while the quarter mile (0-400 m) is covered in 10.6 seconds with an output speed of 215 km / h. Compared to the previous 650 hp C6 Z06 there has been an improvement, but not an exploit. In fact, the latter can reach 60 mph in 2.95 seconds a
